Early Life
Ruby Cedar was born on July 7th of an unspecified year (1995-2005) in the U.S. South as the eldest of three to Natasha Cedar née Volkov, a reindeer Russian-American doe, and Harlan Cedar, a whitetail-fallow American Southerner buck. She was baptized in infancy within the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. Her mother's side consisted primarily of Russian refugees connected to the Orthodox Church who had fled persecution in the USSR; her father's, on the other hand, was a military officer legacy family that had resided in the South since the Revolutionary War. A Volkov legend claims descent from St. Nicholas of Myra, the popular inspiration for Santa Claus.
She grew up in the town of Cedar Grove, located in the Piedmont Atlantic region of the U.S. South. In elementary and middle school, teachers reported the doe fawn as clearly intelligent, but excessively enthusiastic at times and occasionally difficult to manage. She attended Cedar Grove High School for freshman and sophomore years, and was noted as an unusually driven and academically gifted student, though with a tendency to speak her mind. Towards the end of sophomore year, a semi-arranged courtship with Forrest Burr - a fellow anthro-cervid from another prominent local family - was abruptly ended at her initiative, precipitating a significant and lasting clash with her highly conservative family.
She enrolled at a nearby community college, East Piedmont Community College, before her junior year of high school, as a part of a dual-enrollment pilot program. She cited social isolation and anxiety as primary drivers for this decision, though it later resulted in her meeting Griffin Holloway, a local human boy, who she'd quickly befriend.
Later Years
At some point during or after 2020, she likely attended a university and studied biology. Little else is known.
